 Homemade Ketchup, Bear Burgers, Fried Green Tomatoes and Bear Sloppy Joes
by My Self Reliance 17:25 - 522,465 views #cooking #burgers #offgrid On this rainy day, I spend half of it in the outdoor forest kitchen, making homemade ketchup from scratch, hand grinding roma tomatoes into fresh sauce for ketchup and sloppy joes. My growing season here in Canada is almost over so I harvest the green tomatoes and fry them in bear fat with a thin coating of flour and salt. I make the best hamburger I've ever eaten with ground black bear meat, cheddar cheese, jalepeno peppers, onion, mustard and fresh maple ketchup. That's lunch. For dinner, I toast sourdough bread on the outdoor grill in the forest kitchen, add butter and garlic powder (garlic bread) and pile it high with ground meat, tomatoes and cheese.
